About the role

This Resource Manager position is available at any location in the United States, with a preference for candidates near a Jacobs U.S. office. The role serves as a strategic workforce planning leader for the Architectural Department within the Data Center Performance Unit, focusing on optimizing staffing assignments, forecasting resource needs, supporting department growth, and providing operational support for efficient project delivery across a rapidly expanding data center portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Track and report staff resourcing and utilization; maintain the department's resource-allocation system, including staff roles, level of effort (LOE), assigned hours, and major deliverables for all active and upcoming projects.
  • Lead staffing organization efforts in collaboration with Sector Managers and Program Managers; review assignments of key personnel, roles, and projects with Department Leadership.
  • Coordinate architectural staffing needs and assignments with other departments and business units, such as Global Integrated Delivery (GID).
  • Forecast staffing needs based on project pipeline and anticipated workload; identify resource gaps and provide recommendations to Department Leadership.
  • Prepare recurring operational reporting for Department Leadership and the VP/Business Unit Director, including headcount, utilization, and retention.
  • Maintain records of staff information such as location, salary, role, and credentials.
  • Support the development of proposals for new work; review and advance scope of work narratives, identify RFIs, generate LOE hours and FTEs required, and consider initial staffing assignments.
  • Develop and maintain a file organization system for the department’s SharePoint, including standards and operational resources.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and facilitate e3 performance evaluations between staff and their managers.
  • Collaborate with recruiting agents for interview scheduling, candidate communication, and applicant-tracking system administration.
  • Coordinate new hire offers with Department Leadership, recruiting, and HR; facilitate onboarding with HR, IT, and local office administrative personnel.
  • Develop an onboarding process and coordinate logistics with Jacobs Navigators for new hires.
  • Arrange local office onboarding with facility management to confirm new hires have required badging and security access.
  • Review and approve staff timesheets of direct or indirect reports as identified.
  • Serve as the department's liaison to centralized AM Support Functions (HR, Finance, Legal, IT, Marketing & Comms) rather than duplicating those functions within the department.
  • Support staff through the reciprocity process for obtaining an architectural license in another state.
  • Organize monthly department staff meetings alongside Department Leadership.

Requirements

  • Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) or Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in architecture, operations management, resource management, or a related professional discipline.
  • Experience developing work plans and assigning staff to execute the work.
  • Strong proficiency with scheduling, resourcing, and reporting tools (e.g., MS Office/Microsoft 365, resource-management software).
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities across a growing team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfort preparing materials for senior leadership audiences.
  • Discretion in handling confidential personnel, budget, and client information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Registered Architect (RA) license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical facilities, data centers, or large-scale infrastructure programs.

Benefits
