Job Description

The Resource Coordinator Nurse reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts orientation and training of new and existing staff.
  • Maintains attendance records.
  • Prioritizes, assigns, and reviews work; provides feedback to manager regarding staff performance.
  • Serves as a clinical resource to staff.
  • Contains costs while ensuring the department is providing the highest quality of service.
  • Safeguards staffing levels which meet department guidelines; ensures optimal department coverage and minimal overtime.
  • Maintains utilization of supplies and equipment for optimal efficiency and cost containment.
  • Serves as a clinical resource to staff.
  • Supports quality assurance programs for the department.
  • Enforces policies and procedures.
  • Supervises the operation of clinical practice.
  • Provides clinical expertise and support for clinical staff to ensure the delivery of quality patient care.
  • Performs ongoing assessment of assigned patients and their significant others biopsychosocial, physiological, and learning needs, as well as communicates to plan of care in coordination with clinical pathway as appropriate.
  • Implements appropriate actions from multiple sources (i.e. clinical interventions) to respond to needs of patients and patients’ significant others.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of three years of work experience in a medical or related business
  • Comprehension of insurance plans including HMO, PPO, POS, commercial, Medicare, Medicaid
  • Solid understanding of patient flow in a medical office
  • Leadership experience
  • Working knowledge of medical software, Word, and Excel
  • Experience managing daily cash activity and reconciling income reports with daily payments
  • Current license as a Registered Professional Nurse or eligible in the State of Illinois
  • CPR (preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Knowledge of coding
  • Supervisory experience
