Requirements
- One year or more of collections, related legal experience and bankruptcies.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
- Ability to demonstrate confidentiality in regards to member accounts and sensitive information.
- High School Graduate or GED.
- Must be bondable.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Contact delinquent accounts by phone and mail; takes appropriate action to resolve the delinquency.
- Prepare and file necessary legal documents.
- Work with retained counsel as needed.
- Analyze financial situation of delinquent borrowers.
- Repossess collateral when other arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful.
- Maintain accurate files and reports on all collections activity and maintain accurate reporting on credit bureaus.
- Informs Manager of trends in loan underwriting contributing to delinquent/charged-off loans and aids in other assigned tasks.
- Perform other work related duties as assigned.
Knowledge And Skills
- Understand laws and regulations related to collections and bankruptcy.
- Possess good listening and people skills.
- Ability to objectively evaluate a member's situation in relation to the overall needs of the credit union.
Interpersonal Skills
- Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation.
- Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
Physical Requirements
- Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.
- Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation.
- Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator.
- Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary.
- Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management.
- Must be capable of travel by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities.
- Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
Schedule
- Monday – Friday / 8:30am – 5:30pm
Pay
$19.50-$29.00 per hour DOE QTRLY and Annual incentives if eligible
