Requirements

  • One year or more of collections, related legal experience and bankruptcies.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to demonstrate confidentiality in regards to member accounts and sensitive information.
  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • Must be bondable.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Contact delinquent accounts by phone and mail; takes appropriate action to resolve the delinquency.
  • Prepare and file necessary legal documents.
  • Work with retained counsel as needed.
  • Analyze financial situation of delinquent borrowers.
  • Repossess collateral when other arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful.
  • Maintain accurate files and reports on all collections activity and maintain accurate reporting on credit bureaus.
  • Informs Manager of trends in loan underwriting contributing to delinquent/charged-off loans and aids in other assigned tasks.
  • Perform other work related duties as assigned.

Knowledge And Skills

  • Understand laws and regulations related to collections and bankruptcy.
  • Possess good listening and people skills.
  • Ability to objectively evaluate a member's situation in relation to the overall needs of the credit union.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation.
  • Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

Physical Requirements

  • Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.
  • Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation.
  • Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator.
  • Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary.
  • Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management.
  • Must be capable of travel by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities.
  • Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Schedule

  • Monday – Friday / 8:30am – 5:30pm

Pay

$19.50-$29.00 per hour DOE QTRLY and Annual incentives if eligible
