Residential Youth Mentor
Job Summary
Rite of Passage Team is hiring a Residential Youth Mentor at San Pasqual Academy in Escondido, California. The position offers a starting salary of $19.00/hr with a $1500 longevity and training bonus for full-time positions. Additional benefits include medical insurance, a 403b match of up to 6%, and paid time off.
About the Role
San Pasqual Academy is a private high school campus located on 238 acres in rural San Pasqual Valley. The campus includes classrooms, an auditorium, gym, cafeteria, and amenities for sports and activities such as basketball, softball, and football. The Residential Youth Mentor serves as a surrogate parent, mentoring and tutoring students, teaching independent living skills, and encouraging participation in various activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide safety and around-the-clock in-person supervision of youth
- Support the physical, personal, and health needs of each student through individual counseling and skill development
- Create a supportive environment for students
- Monitor and document student behaviors and activities
- Participate and assist with educational, social, athletic, and recreational activities
- Collaborate with other professionals to meet each student's treatment plan
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 21 years of age
- Pass a criminal background check, drug screen, physical, and TB test
- Pass a search of the child abuse central registry
Qualifications
- Ability to work flexible hours, including 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts
- Experience working with youth and adolescents
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
Schedule
Shifts available:
- Shift 1: Wednesday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday - 7am-5pm
- Shift 2: Wednesday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday - 1pm-11pm
- Shift 3: Sunday/Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday - 7am-5pm
- Shift 4: Sunday/Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday - 1pm-11pm
