About the role
A Residential Specialist - PRN position is available at OhioGuidestone's Men's Residential Recovery location in Napoleon, OH. This role provides residential programming and services for individuals overcoming addiction in a structured setting. Flexible scheduling and growth opportunities are offered.
Responsibilities
- Maintain complete and current clinical records regarding all persons served.
- Provide education to persons served, family members, and other staff regarding substance use treatment, symptom management, wellness, and health.
- Provide ongoing observation of persons served for mental illness or substance use and physical symptoms, communicating any changes to the treatment team.
- Facilitate group activities focused on mental health or substance use needs to clients served.
- Directly supervise clients to ensure safety and meet basic needs.
- Aid clients in managing behaviors and implementing positive behavioral interventions.
- Ensure the safety of clients and the unit by conducting regular safety checks.
- Achieve productivity goals as assigned.
- Comply with applicable professional ethics and standards and established policies.
- Perform job duties in a manner that’s friendly, considerate, and aligned with the agency’s Mission, Vision, and Standards of Ethical Conduct.
- Organize and plan work for maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
- Utilize IT system and software programs in accordance with agency policy.
- Utilize time off in a manner consistent with agency policy.
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate by supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience in a relevant setting or working with SUD is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Availability during weekend hours.
Preferred
- Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- CDC certification.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, And Personal Characteristics
- Ability to learn and utilize the agency’s Electronic Health Record database and other electronic tools effectively and efficiently within 90 days of hire.
- Knowledge of mental health practices.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of community resources and partnerships available for persons served.
- Excellent communication skills, including above-average written communication.
- The ability to work independently.
- The ability to effectively function as an OhioGuidestone team member.
- The ability to effectively manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Possess and demonstrate effective organizational skills.
- The ability to customarily and regularly exercise discretion and good professional judgment.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to perform job responsibilities in facilities with multiple levels and without elevator or mechanical transportation.
