Residential Shift Leader

Position Purpose

Ensures coordination and delivery of services to a designated program. Provides leadership to and supervision of direct service staff and is responsible for day-to-day operations of the program and provision of care to residents. Assists in the establishment and monitoring of services to residents and implementation of the residents’ Individual Care Plans and Residential Care Plans. Assures compliance with federal, state and local guidelines pertaining to house operation.

Principal Responsibilities And Duties

  • Directly hires and supervises a team of Residential Specialists.
  • Serves as the leader and point person for the shift on which they work.
  • Reviews and maintains shift documentation in resident’s charts.
  • Maintains a safe and clean home environment.
  • Promotes self-advocacy skills and advocate for residents when necessary.
  • Communicate observations as necessary to care team/treatment team in a prompt and understandable fashion.
  • Supports scheduling and arranges transportation to resident appointments.
  • Collaborates with designated program care team/treatment team and other members of the leadership team to create a therapeutic environment that supports and sustains residents’ objectives as outlined in care plans.
  • May be required to maintain ratio by providing as needed shift coverage.
  • May be responsible for supporting management of house budgets, including those for food, activities, household needs, and petty cash accounts.
  • Delegates tasks to be completed by residential team.

Scope Of Position

Serves on leadership team of 3 to 8 persons, overseeing overall program staff of 12 (twelve) to 40 (forty) subordinate staff Up to 6 (six) to 8 (eight) residents served at any given time.

  • The ability to work in partnership with the resident, program leadership, care team and other providers.
  • A comprehensive understanding of what it means to practice trauma informed care.
  • Adequate knowledge of diverse mental health experiences, recovery models, stages of change, harm reduction approaches, support strategies, civil rights, resident rights, and other legal issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills.
  • The ability to provide trainings and run meetings.
  • The ability to be creative in responding to resident and staff needs.
  • The ability to report information accurately and objectively in written and oral formats.
  • Active support of the Care Team and program leadership.
  • The ability to take care of oneself and to stay calm, patient and self-confident amidst numerous potentially stressful situations, maintaining a sense of humor.
  • Demonstrates pursuit of professional growth and development.
  • Acting in accordance with all agency policies.
  • Intermediate computer skills.

Qualification Statements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the provision of services to adults in treatment related to a mental health experience.
  • Previous leadership, teaching or training experience.
  • Reliable transportation. Valid driver’s license.
  • May be required to obtain CPR, CPI.
  • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Working Conditions And Additional Information

  • May be exposed to traumatic situations with potential for physical and emotional harm.
  • The work environment is a residential home, the noise level is low to moderate.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairs and to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to be flexible with schedule to provide coverage as needed.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously and make decisions within agency and program guidelines.

Pay

$24.50-$27.75 per hour.
