Job Summary
Resident Services Coordinator I (RSC I) develops, coordinates, and monitors individual program plans for assigned residents, focusing on intake assessment, employment, vocational, and educational activities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct intake procedures, including reviewing BOP regulations, Agency/program policies, and employment rules.
- Develop and implement individual program plans and meet with residents regularly to assess progress and address issues.
- Supervise and coordinate activities for assigned residents, both in-house and in the community, including educational, vocational, and employment activities.
- Ensure compliance with VOAC policies and procedures, and Federal Bureau of Prisons guidelines.
- Participate in group and class programs, including counseling sessions, T-DAT, and outpatient treatment.
- Coordinate resident releases, creating and verifying community release plans.
- Maintain complete resident files and document case activities using electronic case management systems.
- Attend Program Review Team Meetings and advocate for residents with external service providers.
- Perform coverage duties, such as conducting drug tests, issuing incident reports, and maintaining logs and records.
- Participate in training programs and attend mandatory annual training sessions.
- Represent the program to the public and community agencies, providing professional and appropriate communication.
- Assist in ensuring facility compliance with American Correctional Associations standards for accreditation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in human services, criminal justice, social work, or a related field.
- One year of relevant experience in human services, corrections, or community-based services provision.
- Experience with community corrections services is preferred.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with residents, staff, and community partners.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and judgment skills.
- Prioritization of record-keeping, report-writing, and case management skills.
- Working knowledge of computer word processing and spreadsheet programs.
Other
- The position may require driving a company or personal vehicle.
- A valid driver’s license and liability coverage are required.
- CPR/First Aid Certification must be obtained within 60 days of employment and maintained.
Physical Requirements
- Safety to operate a motor vehicle to transport oneself, consumers, and program supplies.
- Travel to assigned locations, standing, stooping, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, lifting, grasping, climbing, talking, seeing, hearing, and performing basic and light home maintenance activities.
- Continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements while operating office equipment.
- Remaining in a sitting position for extended periods.
