About the Role

We are looking for a Residential Peer Support Specialist to join our team in the Junction City region. The Peer Support Specialist will meet each new resident at admission to support them in feeling welcome, answer their questions, provide compassionate support, and guide them in articulating self-determined goals. This role involves one-to-one conversations with residents to build trust, utilize strategic self-disclosure to normalize mental health challenges, and support individuals in connecting with community peer support systems. The position will facilitate and coordinate peer groups where residents can discuss their unique recovery stories and challenges.

This position requires crisis de-escalation training, which includes performing various physical, hands-on maneuvers and techniques. The role falls under the AFSCME bargaining unit, with wages, benefits, and working conditions set in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities

• Meet new residents at admission to provide support and guidance.
• Engage in one-to-one conversations to build trust and connection.
• Facilitate and coordinate peer groups for residents to discuss recovery stories and challenges.
• Support residents in connecting with community peer support systems.
• Perform crisis de-escalation techniques, including physical maneuvers.

Requirements

• Personal experience with mental health challenges.
• Certified and Registered as a Peer Support Specialist (PSS) or Peer Wellness Specialist (PWS) through the Oregon Health Authority (OHA).
• Valid driver’s license from your state of residence (or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire).
• Ability to pass a DHS criminal background check.
• Must be 18 or older at the time of hire (per OAR 309-035-0135).

Physical Requirements

• Frequently talk, listen, use hands and fingers, reach, stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, and climb stairs.
• Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds.
• Occasionally use ladders, squat/kneel, and perform other physical tasks as applicable.
• Successfully complete crisis de-escalation and CPR trainings, which may require lifting and transferring clients.

About the Program

Residential programs include:

• Madrone Ridge: A secure, co-ed, 8-bed program serving adults living with a mental illness, located on the grounds of the Junction City Hospital.
• Manzanita Ridge: A secure, co-ed, 8-bed program serving adults living with a mental illness, located on the grounds of the Junction City Hospital.
• McKenzie Ridge: A secure, co-ed, 8-bed program serving adults living with a mental illness, located on the grounds of the Junction City Hospital.

Pay

$24.64 - $26.15 per hour, based on experience and credentials.

Additional pay differentials (subject to position, program, and eligibility):

• Night Shift (NOC) Differential: $3.00 per hour for hours worked between 10:00 PM and 8:30 AM (minimum 2.5 hours within this period).
• Secure Program Differential: $2.00 per hour for all hours worked in an eligible secure program (included in this role).
• Bilingual Differential: 5% pay differential for employees who qualify under the CCS Language/Bilingual Program.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (Full Time, Day Shift).
