About the role
The Service/Warranty Technician is responsible for completing residential electrical work on homes before and after homeowners move in, ensuring all electrical systems are properly functioning.
Responsibilities
- Warranty Calls
- Ensure timeliness of calls regarding homeowners’ schedules.
- Able to troubleshoot and repair homeowners’ electrical issues.
- Ensure all homes entered are left clean of debris and materials from warranty calls.
- Handle dissatisfied homeowners and de-escalate situations.
- Hot Checks
- Accurately complete “Hot Checks” prior to final inspection and homeowner closing.
- Knowledge of energizing and de-energizing homes.
- Confirm all equipment is properly installed and functional.
- Troubleshoot faulty equipment, circuits, and breakers.
- Communicate with the service manager and supervisor regarding any issues.
- Ensure the home is left in “move-in” condition.
- Punch Lists
- Complete punch lists—a quality checklist from the builder or homeowner of issues identified during walkthroughs.
- Troubleshoot and read blueprints/floor plans.
- Apply National Electric Code (NEC) knowledge.
- Communicate with the manager regarding any issues that arise.
Requirements
- Electrical trade knowledge for all aspects of residential electrical work.
- Ability to read prints and scale to ensure proper placement of fixtures, receptacles, and switches.
- Own standard residential electrical tools.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of specialty tools (e.g., jackhammer, generator, multimeter, toner).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and complete necessary paperwork.
- Previous experience in all phases of residential electrical work.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Electrical safety knowledge (Lock Out Tag Out).
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to work an on-call schedule on rotation with other service employees.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, bending, crouching, crawling, and climbing ladders.
- Physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits.
- Able to work in hot and confined spaces (e.g., attic work).
- Use hand and power tools for extended periods.
- Lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Sit and drive for extended periods to reach service locations.
- Safely operate a company van in various weather and road conditions.
Qualifications
2–4 years of experience in residential electrical work.
Pay
$22.00–$25.00 per hour.
