Residential Driver

About the role

A Driver- CDL (B) is responsible for safely operating a collection truck and providing prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services for customers. This role ensures the vehicle complies with the Company’s safety standards, adheres to all Company, state, and federal regulations, and completes daily vehicle condition reports (VCRs) to address any defects promptly.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order. Report any safety issues on standard reports.
• Safely operate a heavy truck along the designated route and to the disposal site; read route sheets, follow maps, and service each customer as identified on the route sheet or as assigned by the dispatcher/supervisor.
• Operate manual and/or automatic controls in accordance with Company safety policies and procedures to lift and load refuse, operate compactor, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
• Courteously interact with customers, dispatchers, and others daily to ensure timely and professional service of all customer routes.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers in accordance with applicable departmental procedures.
• Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
• Clean area around accidental waste spills, ensuring adherence to all safety standards and policies.
• Monitor the vehicle’s condition to ensure operational readiness and minimize downtime; clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip.
• Complete required route/productivity sheets, VCRs, and other reports as needed.
• Maintain adherence to productivity standards to ensure timely and efficient customer service.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• Actively participate in the Company’s ReSOP program.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s license with air brakes endorsement.

This is a DOT-regulated position.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $20.35 to $28.00 per hour, reflecting the minimum wage in multiple jurisdictions. The actual range will depend on the locality in which you are hired. Eligible employees may earn between $24–$31 per hour with a $5,000 retention bonus.
