Residential Driver

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Drive agency vehicles transporting individuals and staff to and from recreational and non-recreational activities as assigned.
• Receive and respond to ride requests, scheduling and communicating with residential managers and supervisors.
• Assist in loading and unloading of individuals using adaptive equipment and vehicle safety equipment.
• Accompany individuals to other community activities / facilities as assigned, ensuring safe transportation and appropriate levels of supervision.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safe services.
• Maintain vehicles in a clean, orderly condition.
• Implement service plans and accurately complete tracking, recording outcomes.
• Assure communication of daily occurrences related to job and/or individuals to appropriate persons (Supervisor, Nursing staff, Residential Supervisor / Manager, etc.), and document events, incidents, accidents as they occur, per policy.
• Perform such other duties as assigned by the Director.

Qualifications

• Adequate reading and writing (English) skills to perform job duties.
• Interest and desire to work with adults with developmental disabilities.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record to agency insurance carrier.
• One-year prior experience driving large vehicles preferred.
• Able to perform physical tasks associated with the position (including lifting and care of individuals as required).
• Familiarity with the geographic area.
• General knowledge of vehicle upkeep.
• Able to obtain and maintain First Aid, CPR, and SCIP-R Certification.
