About the role
This role provides care, rehabilitative training, support and supervision for the development and/or enhancement of community living skills to residents under the direction of the Residence Manager.
Responsibilities
- Teach, monitor, and provide recovery-oriented supports in accordance with OMH 593 and 595, including Assertiveness/Self-Advocacy Training, Community Integration/Resource Development, Daily Living Skills, Health Services, Medication Management Training, Parenting Training, Rehabilitative Counseling, Skill Development, Socialization, Substance Abuse Services, and Symptom Management.
- Ensure comprehensive planning for each resident in a person-centered approach, covering admission, ongoing services, and discharge.
- Observe, monitor, document, and report resident behaviors and progress according to agency standards.
- Assist residents in preparing nutritious meals, including food preparation when needed.
- Plan, implement, and support recreational activities.
- Provide safe transporting of residents when needed.
- Complete household chores assigned by supervisor to maintain cleanliness and safety standards.
- Supervise and document resident medications in accordance with agency policies.
Requirements
- RC I: High school diploma or GED required. Human services experience preferred.
- RC II: QMHS Standard. Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, or an Associate’s degree in Human Services with 3-years FT related paid experience, or a High school diploma and 5 years related paid experience.
Qualifications
- Must be at least Eighteen (18) years of age.
- Driving record that meets agency’s “clean driving record policy”.
Skills
- Knowledge of OMH 593 and 595
- Ability to teach and monitor rehabilitation services
- Experience with daily living skills, health services, medication management, and substance abuse services

Pay
The pay range for this position is based on education & experience. See details below:
- Residential Counselor 1: $22-22.30/hour
- Residential Counselor 2: $23-23.60/hour
Schedule
Evening and Overnight shifts receive a $1 shift differential.
