About the role
A well-established New York City general contractor is seeking an experienced Residential Construction Site Supervisor to oversee high-end residential renovations, restorations, and ground-up construction projects throughout Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs. This position is ideal for a hands-on construction professional who understands the demands of working in occupied buildings, townhomes, apartments, and other complex urban environments.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations across assigned residential construction sites
- Coordinate subcontractors, tradespeople, vendors, deliveries, and inspections
- Review drawings, specifications, schedules, and project requirements
- Monitor workmanship and ensure work meets design and quality standards
- Track project progress and communicate updates to project management
- Identify field issues early and help develop practical solutions
- Maintain short-term schedules and keep subcontractors accountable
- Coordinate work with architects, designers, engineers, building management, and clients
- Enforce site safety requirements and maintain clean, organized job sites
- Document daily progress, manpower, deliveries, delays, and completed work
- Manage punch lists and support projects through final completion and turnover
Requirements
- At least five years of construction supervision experience
- Strong background in high-end residential renovations or custom home construction
- Experience managing projects in New York City strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of carpentry, millwork, finishes, mechanical systems, electrical, plumbing, and general building practices
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and construction documents
- Strong subcontractor coordination and scheduling skills
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
- Comfortable working directly with discerning homeowners, architects, designers, and property representatives
- OSHA 30 certification preferred
- Procore or similar construction management software experience is a plus
