About the role
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Professional Painter to join our team. The ideal candidate will handle a variety of painting projects, including interior and exterior work for residential homes, apartments, offices, retail spaces, and other commercial properties. This role requires expertise in surface preparation, paint application, and finishing techniques to ensure durable, aesthetically pleasing results. The position involves working independently or as part of a team, adhering to safety standards, and meeting project deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Arrive at the job site at the precise start time and report to the operations manager for work-specific goals and instructions.
- Respect customer boundaries and space.
- Assist in setting up a neat and organized area for equipment, tools, and products.
- Know your production goal for the day and monitor progress to ensure the goal is met or exceeded.
- Use plastic, drop cloths, and tape to protect surfaces not to be painted.
- Ensure expert preparation by sanding, scraping, and priming as appropriate to ensure proper adhesion.
- Adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), ladders, scaffolding, and hazardous material handling.
- Completely cover painted surfaces to provide a smooth, opaque surface of uniform finish, color, appearance, and coverage.
- Take steps to avoid cloudiness, spotting, holidays, laps, brush marks, runs, sags, ropiness, or other surface imperfections.
- Organize the worksite to minimally disturb our client’s home.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, and team members to discuss color choices, timelines, and any special requirements.
- At the end of each workday, remove empty cans, rags, rubbish, and other discarded paint materials from the site.
- Upon job completion, clean glass and paint-spattered surfaces; remove spattered paint by washing and scraping without damaging adjacent finished surfaces.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship in painting preferred.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; ability to travel to various job sites.
- Certification in lead-safe practices (e.g., EPA RRP certification) is a plus.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.
