Residential Combination Building Inspector

About the role

SAFEbuilt is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our dynamic team as a Building Official. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building codes, zoning regulations, and construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve building plans and permits according to local building codes and regulations.
• Inspect construction sites to ensure compliance with building codes and safety standards.
• Enforce zoning laws and regulations to ensure compliance with local land use policies.
• Provide technical guidance and training to contractors and developers on building codes and safety practices.
• Respond to public inquiries and complaints regarding building and zoning issues.
• Keep abreast of changes in building codes and regulations through continuing education and professional development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in building inspection or code enforcement.
• Knowledge of local building codes, zoning regulations, and construction practices.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure.

Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with building permit systems and software.
• Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders including developers, contractors, and the public.

$70,000 - $80,000 annually based on experience.
