Primary Duties And Essential Functions
- Comply with all requirements of 291 Licensure.
- Participate in the intake and planning process, including reviewing pre-placement material and participating in pre-placement interviews and assessments as requested by the Vice President of Operations.
- Provides assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for all assigned individuals.
- Provides formal individual therapy to all assigned individuals on a weekly basis.
- Provides formal family therapy to all assigned families on a bi-weekly basis.
- Develops and facilitates weekly group therapy sessions in the following areas: Anger Management, Social Skills, Substance Abuse Education, Healthy Relationships/Sexuality Education.
- Provides crisis intervention on an as-needed basis.
- Conducts mediation on an as-needed basis.
- Provides ongoing communication with the individuals' family/guardians regarding medication and all other matters of a clinical nature.
- Understands different views, experiences, orientations, and cultural differences and takes them into account when planning for treatment.
- Maintains communication log and individual logs for all assigned individuals.
- Chairs treatment team meetings to facilitate the development, ongoing assessment, and modifications of individuals' Comprehensive Treatment Plans.
- Attends CSE and school-related meetings as necessary.
- Attends weekly medication reviews with the agency Psychiatrist.
- Attends weekly Clinical Consult Meeting with Case Coordinator and House Manager.
- Completes IEP goals and grading.
- Completes progress notes regarding clinical sessions and inter and intra-agency contacts that reflect services offered, individual and family response, as well as treatment progress. Progress notes are completed in a timely manner in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Completes Comprehensive Treatment Plans in a timely manner.
- Completes Behavior Support Plans (BSP) monthly and updates as necessary.
- Performs on-call consultation duties assigned.
- Engages in department planning and goal attainment.
- Proficient with agency electronic record and billing.
Required Education, Knowledge And Skills
- Master's Degree from an accredited program, in Social Work, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling or related area required.
- Experience in providing therapy/treatment services for at-risk youth and families. Specific programs may require specialized training.
- Relevant licensure.
- Valid and current NYS driver's license with a clean MVR.
Abilities And Working Conditions
- Must be available to work a 40-hour work week.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
- Must be able to stand and run for moderate periods of time.
- Must be able to perform restraints and maintain TCI certification.
- Willingness to respond to the needs of a culturally diverse population.
About the Role
The Residential Clinician provides treatment to those individuals receiving services from Vanderheyden. Treatment includes but is not limited to: individual, family, and group therapy.
Qualifications
Residential Clinicians must have a Master's Degree from an accredited program, in Social Work, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling or related area. Experience in providing therapy/treatment services for at-risk youth and families is required. Relevant licensure is also required.
Skills
Residential Clinicians should possess strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work effectively with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds.
