Description

The Behavioral Health Technician assists in providing a safe environment for individuals. Key responsibilities include:

  • Records inventory log of all personal belongings, valuables and return ticket.
  • Completes required lab requisitions per protocol.
  • Maintains supervision of clients at all times, including specific rounds and logging their whereabouts.
  • De-escalates AMA and other client problems.
  • Ensures proper disposal of garbage throughout shifts.
  • Maintains cleanliness of group rooms after each activity.
  • Hands off information necessary for the next shift technician after each shift.
  • Maintains logbook for continuity of care.
  • Attends required staff meetings and participates in shift turnover.
  • Supervises clients during the program with emphasis on safety and wellbeing.
  • Reminds clients of program rules and regulations as necessary and reports infractions immediately.
  • Provides emotional support for clients while referring them to therapy staff to address clinical issues.
  • Completes assigned paperwork in a neat, timely, and accurate manner.
  • Communicates with other staff as necessary to promote quality client care.
  • Maintains clean, properly supplied, and efficient work areas.
  • Observes and reports safety and maintenance problems.
  • Interacts appropriately with clients, showing respect while maintaining boundaries.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor.
  • Exercises sound professional judgment and seeks assistance as necessary to effectively manage client behavior, including but not limited to suicidal concerns and issues of trauma.
  • Protects privacy of all client information in accordance with facility privacy policies and procedures.
  • Transports clients as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED preferred.
  • Experience working in substance abuse and/or mental health preferred.
  • Valid state driving license with no major violations in past five (5) years.
