Schedule

Saturday & Sunday, 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm

Pay

Pay rates for Union positions are set in the Collective Bargaining Agreement with SEIU Local 521. Each position has six steps, from Step 1 (entry level) to Step 6 (15 years of employment). Union staff are promoted from Step 1 to Step 2 upon their one-year anniversary.

  • Current Step 1 rate: $29.14/hr
  • Current Step 6 rate: $32.17/hr

Shift differentials (only the highest applies at a time):

  • 6.25% for overnight (11 pm – 7 am)
  • 4.75% for evening (5:30 pm – 10:59 pm)
  • 4.75% for weekend (12:01 am Saturday – 11:59 pm Sunday)

Responsibilities

  • Enter information into the daily log, including descriptions of any incidents, altercations, mother-child interactions, or medication discrepancies.
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of clients and their children, including regular rounds, chores, scheduled groups, and ensuring proper supervision and safety.
  • Monitor and assist mothers’ positive parenting activities; provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Provide client access to medications and ensure correct dose and medication are being provided; inventory client medication per shift.
  • Provide regularly scheduled and emergency transportation for clients (appointments, grocery shopping, WIC, etc.).
  • Track daily census of clients.
  • Conduct scheduled and random urine and oral drug testing.
  • Set up bedrooms for potential clients (bedding, welcome baskets); clean bedrooms of outgoing clients and submit maintenance requests as needed.
  • Communicate thorough shift exchange with incoming staff, including client updates and pending to-dos.
  • Conduct facility, room, and client searches as needed, including all incoming packages and personal items.
  • Conduct end-of-month report, including inventories of food, medicine, and supplies, fire and safety checks, and maintenance requests.
  • Participate in trainings and achieve certifications as required by federal, state, and county licensing requirements.
  • Conduct client checks and take vitals per the organization’s Withdrawal Management Policy.
  • Provide childcare coverage as needed.
  • Provide coverage for admission and discharge paperwork as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (Essential)
  • Valid California Driver License, access to a reliable vehicle (or ability to drive a company vehicle), current proof of auto liability insurance, and a clean DMV record (Essential)
  • Working knowledge of common computer software programs including MS Office and Excel (Essential)
  • Filing skills (alphabetic, numeric, date) (Essential)
  • Sensitivity to female privacy interests and prior domestic abuse (Essential)
  • Strong personal boundaries matched with compassion (Essential)
  • Some experience working in a multicultural setting with women and children affected by addiction and possible mental health diagnoses (Desired)
  • Experience with social model methodology and 12-Step recovery principles (Desired)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) (Desired)
  • Experience role modeling recovery concepts, healthy life skills, and positive parenting skills (Desired)

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk up and down a small hill.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds (strollers, supplies, small children).

Work Environment

Primary work is performed in a residential setting with short periods of time at an office desk. Will be exposed to clients in various states of undress.

Travel Requirement

Local travel to training, client appointments, and other errands may be required.
