Job Overview
The Residential Aide provides direct, supportive care to adult clients living at the Healing Center, a residential treatment program for Native Americans with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. This position supports daily operations of the facility, ensures client safety, and helps maintain a structured, respectful, and culturally supportive environment.
Work You’ll Do
- Monitor and support residents throughout the facility, ensuring physical and emotional safety at all times.
- Provide supervision during daily routines, mealtimes, groups, free time, and offsite programming as needed.
- Aid with room checks, head counts, wellness checks, and documentation of client behaviors or incidents.
- Support new admissions by orienting clients to the facility and assisting with belongings and room setup.
- Transport clients in motorpool vehicles to appointments, outings, or cultural programming as assigned.
- Administer drug/alcohol screening tests according to protocol and document results accurately.
- Administer medications according to protocol and document accurately.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in common areas and client living spaces, support clients in daily chores.
- Assist with conflict de-escalation and reinforce treatment goals and program rules with empathy and consistency.
- Participate in shift handoffs including documenting shift notes.
- Promote a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally respectful environment for all residents.
- Work in partnership with cultural staff to support traditional activities, talking circles, and ceremonies.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the Healing Center’s operations and mission.
Job Requirements
- Experience working in residential, behavioral health, or similar human services setting preferred.
- Ability to maintain healthy professional boundaries and respond calmly to crises.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Respect for and interest in Dakota culture, language, and healing practices.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
- Must maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and insurability under motorpool policy required.
- Ability to work evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
