Residential Aide

About the Role

Provides independent living skills training, direct care support, and opportunities for community integration. Services are delivered in the client’s residence, the Group Home, or out in the community. The role focuses on intensive community support and skills training to enhance clients' independent living and social skills, in alignment with their treatment plan.

Responsibilities

• Attend and participate in staff meetings, case conferences, and required trainings (seminars, in-services).
• Provide daily written observations of client progress in independent living and social skills.
• Document and monitor clients’ medication use.
• Complete all required records, reports, and documentation.
• Provide training in independent living skills, including personal hygiene, housekeeping, and laundry; perform these tasks if the client is unable.
• Work with clients to develop social skills, such as interaction with others, appropriate use of leisure time, and behavior skills.
• Assess and intervene in crisis situations following the established crisis response plan.
• Follow and conform to the treatment plan while working successfully with assigned client(s).
• Educate and involve clients in the Insect Inspection and Control process to maintain an insect-free environment.
• Maintain a strong on-time and attendance record.
• Perform all other assigned tasks.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with clients and documenting progress notes.
• Ability to train others in daily living skills and perform those skills independently.
• Sensitivity toward the needs of behavioral health clients.
• Knowledge of and experience in the mental health field is strongly preferred.
• Favorable references and/or evaluations.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) candidates are encouraged to apply.
• PRN Residential Aides must work at least one shift per month.

Skills

• Working knowledge of Riveon Mental Health and Recovery Policy and Procedures, including clients’ rights, confidentiality, and health/safety issues.
• Ability to teach and model all aspects of daily living.
• Ability to perform routine household tasks if the client cannot.
• Ability to respond in crisis situations using the Center’s crisis plan.
• Working knowledge of community support systems.
• Strong interpersonal, speaking, and language skills.

Working Conditions

• Primarily based in client group homes with frequent client contact.
• May require sitting for extended periods, bending, stooping, walking frequently, and lifting/pushing minimal loads.
