Residential Advisor - Prime Shift

Job Summary

Responsible for creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment in student housing, facilitating student interactions, and assisting with campus adjustment. Conducts dormitory operations following established policies and procedures.

Key Duties

• Supervises and assists students with personal hygiene, room chores, recreation, cafeteria, transportation, and activities.
• Provides informal counseling on stress, personal issues, emergencies, and responsible behavior.
• Maintains accurate student records and documents observations, behavior, performance, and communication logs.
• Performs safety checks, maintains bulletin boards, and serves as communication link between staff and students.
• Facilitates life skills groups, peer mediation, and conflict resolution discussions.
• Affords confidentiality needs, reports critical situations, and contacts families for permissions.
• Responds to injuries, illnesses, or emotional trauma, providing CPR/First Aid as needed.
• Cleans up after regular safety checks, dorm meetings, and ensures cleanliness and maintenance of facilities.
• Creates a welcoming atmosphere, encourages personalization, and enforces standards on room and bulletin board content.
• Attends training and staff meetings, and performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; valid driver’s license; six months of experience in education or similar field.
• PREFERRED: B.A./B.S. in behavioral health and one year of related experience.

Skills

• Ability to write descriptive reports, implement program activities, direct groups, address dysfunctional behavior, and complete mandated training.
