About the role

As a Residential Advisor (RA), you'll become a mentor, role model, coach, and trusted resource for students as they prepare for successful careers and independent living.

Schedule

Full-time position, 40 hours a week. Split shift: Saturday and Sunday 8a-5p, Monday 3p-12a, Tuesday and Wednesday 11:30p-8:30a, Thursday and Friday off.

Responsibilities

  • Create a safe, welcoming, and positive dormitory environment.
  • Encourage students to develop positive attitudes, responsible behaviors, and independent living skills.
  • Coach and mentor students to help them reach their personal, educational, and career goals.
  • Provide guidance, one-on-one support, and facilitate group discussions.
  • Identify students who may benefit from additional support and coordinate referrals to counselors.
  • Promote positive peer leadership and reinforce Career Success Standards.
  • Monitor dormitories and the campus to ensure student safety and address concerns before they become problems.
  • Assist with dorm activities, student leadership initiatives, and unit government.
  • Prepare daily reports, maintain accurate student files, document case notes, and complete required administrative tasks.
  • Help maintain clean, organized, and welcoming dorm facilities.
  • Ensure dorm supplies are available and safety standards are maintained.
  • Support the Job Corps Zero Tolerance Policy while fostering a respectful and inclusive community.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
  • Perform other duties that contribute to student success and campus operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; advanced degrees preferred.
  • A minimum of one-year Job Corps or related program experience required.
  • A valid in-State Driver’s License preferred.
  • Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping, and crouching.
  • Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and/or the ability to assess the lift load in order to ask for necessary assistance.
