Resident Teacher
About the Role
Spring Lake Park Schools is seeking a Resident Teacher to join our vibrant school community serving approximately 6,200 students from the suburbs of Blaine, Fridley, and Spring Lake Park in the northwest Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Resident teachers are teachers who are new to the teaching profession and intentionally partner with an experienced teacher. They work in a variety of roles throughout the school year, including whole group, small group, and individualized instruction and intervention; substitute teaching within their school; and partner teaching with an experienced teacher. Resident teachers receive intensive coaching supports to accelerate their learning and experiences in their first year of teaching, with the goal of moving to a home-base teaching position in future years.
Responsibilities
- Design meaningful learning experiences that prepare students for the future
- Create engaging, relevant work grounded in students' interests, strengths, and needs
- Challenge students to think deeply and take an active role in their learning
- Cultivate inclusive, engaging learning environments where each student feels valued, supported, and has a true sense of belonging
- Develop strong academic skills and essential career and life competencies such as collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and self-direction
- Work in whole group, small group, and individualized instruction and intervention settings
- Substitute teach within the school as needed
- Partner teach with an experienced teacher
- Participate in intensive coaching supports to accelerate learning and experience in the first year of teaching
- Engage in reflective, collaborative professional practice with a commitment to ongoing learning
- Embrace a culture of reciprocal feedback to refine practice and drive continuous improvement and innovation
Qualifications
- B.A. or B.S. degree
- Holds or is eligible for a Minnesota State Licensure in Elementary Education
- Commitment to the equitable education of all students
- Creative planning and organizational skills
- Highly effective interpersonal skills
- Ability to successfully implement the responsibilities of the position

- Enthusiasm to work with students
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning as evidenced by graduate-level work or an earned degree
- Participation in professional organization conferences or seminars related to the content area

Pay & Benefits
Full-time (1.0 FTE) Teacher position. Salary range: $53,228–$107,781 per school year (placement determined based on experience and qualifications). Benefits include Medical, Dental, Sick Leave, 403(b), Life, LTD, and FSA. Salary is pro-rated based on start date.
