Pay rate: $16 per hour, part-time position with a schedule of every other weekend and some evenings.
About the Role
The Resident Program Assistant supports the Program Director in leading and executing all Resident Programs in "Sweet Memories" and Assisted Living to ensure residents remain engaged, healthy, and active. This role also supports the Resident Care team to create a safe, holistic, and social environment. The Program Assistant carries out specific tasks to fulfill the standards of Resident Programs as assigned by the Program Director.
Qualifications
- Education or training in a healthcare field or certification as an activity professional by a recognized accrediting body (preferred but not required).
- Experience working with seniors and those with memory loss strongly preferred.
- Two years’ experience in activity planning for seniors preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of the social and psychological needs of residents.
- Ability to work without close supervision and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong prioritization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license with no major violations within 3 years.
- Working knowledge of and ability to utilize technology effectively.
- Clean driving record and eligibility to be insured on the company driving policy.
- Ability to operate a large passenger van safely.
Responsibilities
- Assists the Program Director with planning, developing, and preparing a variety of physical, social, recreational, and educational events.
- Assists with transportation and resident outings.
- Assists with the production of the community monthly calendar.
- Maintains documentation and resident attendance through digital programs.
- Maintains knowledge of communities, services, and events in the area and incorporates them into the activity schedule as appropriate.
- Establishes a warm and welcoming atmosphere for residents and staff.
- Promotes teamwork and a positive attitude among associates.
- Continually evaluates the quality and consistency of activities for residents and suggests adjustments, corrections, and changes as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical/Sensory Requirements
- Must be mobile and able to perform the physical requirements of the job, including lifting greater than 50 lbs.
- Long stretches on one’s feet and walking are expected.
- Highly active position, leading physical activities for residents.
- Requires long stretches of driving the community van.
