Resident Parent / Mentor - North Central Texas Academy

About the role

Resident Parents and Mentors maintain a safe and comfortable home environment for up to 8 students in a residence. They oversee the growth and development of the students in their care by helping them balance responsibilities, interpersonal relationships, and spiritual life. Resident Parents provide a Christian environment through prayer, open discussion, and family devotions.

Students come from a variety of backgrounds, including other countries. Resident Parents teach respectful communication skills, time management, conflict resolution, and essential character traits such as honesty, kindness, patience, tolerance, and self-control. This role is well-suited for those interested in youth, family, and missions.

Resident Parents regularly communicate with a supervisor to ensure students are properly cared for and NCTA policies are followed. All Resident Parents have a private apartment connected to the student house.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and comfortable home environment for up to 8 students
• Oversee the growth and development of students in care
• Help students balance responsibilities, interpersonal relationships, and spiritual life
• Provide a Christian environment through prayer, open discussion, and family devotions
• Teach respectful communication skills, time management, and conflict resolution
• Instill essential character traits such as honesty, kindness, patience, tolerance, and self-control
• Regularly communicate with supervisor to ensure proper care and policy compliance

Pay

• Couples: Total package with benefits $65,000; take-home pay is $40,000
• Singles: Total package with benefits $40,200; take-home pay is $20–$25,000

Schedule

Rotating schedule of 4 days on and 2 days off, following the Academic Calendar with nearly 2½ months of time off, including summers off (June and July).
