Resident Network Engineer
About the role
The Resident Network Engineer supports, maintains, and optimizes an organization's network infrastructure. They troubleshoot, configure, and operate network hardware, software, and services, collaborating with internal teams and external vendors.
Responsibilities
- Follow Secur-Serv requirements, policies, procedures, and management directions
- Test new tools, features, and functionality in a lab and implement them in the live network
- Support design and planning of Juniper MX, QFX, EX series and related solutions
- Develop secondary skills in other Juniper products and assist with network migrations, upgrades, code refreshes, and hardware refreshes
- Conduct regular health checks, configuration reviews, and performance assessments
- Manage operational risks and propose improvements to enhance network reliability and security
- Support firewall policy reviews, access control updates, and security hardening initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science
- JNCIE certification
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in networking products in LAN, WAN, or Internet services environments
- Strong interpersonal and customer interface skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure
- Trend analysis to deliver efficient solutions
- Familiarity with IP service provider networks, including OSPF, ISIS, BGP, MPLS-TE, RSVP, LDP, IPv6, routing policy, JUNOS CLI, Slax, Python, Ansible, SNMP, Syslog, Ethernet switching, 802.1Q, QoS, SDN, and test equipment
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Programming and scripting experience (Python, Ruby, shell, awk, slax, etc)
- Test equipment (Spirent, Agilent N2X, Ixia)
- JNCIE-SP
- Understanding of multicast
