Resident Mentor - Mental Health Tech (MHT) PER DIEM

About the role

Per Diem Resident Mentors are required to work a minimum of five shifts per month, with flexibility for 6-12 hour shifts. A mandatory two-week orientation (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm) is required before starting your work schedule.

Resident Mentors work as part of the treatment team in a residential setting, collaborating with mental health professionals, therapists, and nurses to support youth in treatment. This role involves observing patient behavior, documenting progress, and assisting with daily activities, programs, and recreational opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Act as a role model for patients (ages 6-17) by demonstrating appropriate behavior and applying active listening techniques.
• Establish therapeutic interpersonal relationships through one-on-one interactions to achieve treatment plan goals.
• Observe and document patient behavior to monitor treatment effectiveness and update patient charts.
• Assist with programs, activities of daily living, recreational opportunities, and meals.
• Protect patients' rights by maintaining professional behavior and reporting violations or suspected abuse/neglect.
• Respond to safety and security issues according to established procedures.
• Transport patients to and from appointments and outings using company vehicles.
• Maintain the safety, health, and well-being of children in a therapeutic environment.
• Make critical decisions to restrain patients who pose a threat to themselves or others, including those who may be hostile or combative.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of experience in the mental health field; inpatient or outpatient psychiatry experience preferred.
