Resident Mentor - Mental Health Tech (MHT) PART TIME (24 HRS/WEEK)

About the role

Resident Mentors work as members of the treatment team alongside other mental health professionals, therapists, and nurses in a residential treatment setting. They assist in observing patient behavior to monitor treatment plan effectiveness, document progress, and support daily living activities, recreational opportunities, and meals. Mentors act as role models, applying active listening techniques and establishing therapeutic relationships through one-on-one interactions to achieve treatment plan goals. They ensure patients' rights are protected, respond to safety and security issues, transport patients using company vehicles, and maintain a safe therapeutic environment. Mentors may need to restrain patients who pose a threat to themselves or others.

Responsibilities

• Observe patient behavior to monitor treatment plan effectiveness and document progress in patient charts.
• Assist with programs, activities of daily living, recreational opportunities, and meals.
• Act as a role model for patients (ages 6-17) by demonstrating appropriate behavior and applying active listening techniques.
• Establish therapeutic interpersonal relationships through one-on-one interactions to accomplish treatment plan goals.
• Protect patients' rights by demonstrating professional behavior and reporting violations or suspected abuse/neglect.
• Respond to safety and security issues according to established procedures.
• Transport patients to and from scheduled appointments and outings using company vehicles.
• Maintain the safety, health, and well-being of children in the therapeutic environment.
• Make crucial decisions to restrain patients who are a threat to themselves or others.

Schedule

• (2) 12-hour shifts per week.
• Required orientation: 2 weeks long, Monday-Friday, 9 am–5 pm, before starting your work schedule.
• Base pay plus weekend and night differential.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year in the mental health arena; experience in an inpatient or outpatient psychiatry setting preferred.
