About the Role
Assist residents with medication administration and routine daily care and services in accordance with the resident’s Medication Administration Record (MAR), resident’s assessment, and plan of care.
Responsibilities
- Assist the resident with medication administration.
- Verify with the resident that they recognize the name, date, and medication they are to take.
- Confirm the resident has taken the medication.
- Provide care to residents, including activities of daily living as needed.
- Notify the manager/supervisor of any change in condition (e.g., discrepancy in the order, MAR, or medication pack; resident’s inability to recognize medications; areas of redness, skin tears, bruising, mental status changes, or eating habits).
- Compare the resident’s physician’s order and the MAR.
- Verify the order matches the MAR and that the order, MAR, and medication pack match.
- Document appropriately on the MAR/EMAR.
- Assist with lifting, moving, and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, etc., utilizing proper facility techniques.
- Check residents routinely to ensure their personal care needs are being met.
- Assist in preparing and serving meals as necessary and on a timely basis.
- Maintain clean and neat resident rooms and care areas.
- Perform day-to-day housekeeping activities in accordance with daily work assignments.
- Orient new residents to the facility.
- Encourage and assist residents to participate in activities.
- Assist in conducting activities with residents as directed.
- Assume additional responsibilities as assigned or needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in resident/patient care preferred.
