About the role

The Resident Maintenance Technician position at KNAPP involves providing comprehensive maintenance support for automated storage and retrieval systems and storage/picking systems located at customer sites. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and a commitment to maintaining optimal equipment performance.

Responsibilities

  • Rectify electro-mechanical faults and provide specialist technical assistance
  • Respond to emergency calls from customers
  • Ensure safety in all activities and promote successful task completion
  • Offer first-class service to customers, aiming for a first-time right policy
  • Support the setup and calibration of precision automation equipment
  • Build strong working relationships with customers and their operational teams
  • Train customer's maintenance teams as needed
  • Install conveyor and precision automation equipment
  • Maintain quality of service by ensuring effective communication with customers
  • Create and submit accurate reports and time sheets
  • Manage spare parts usage and communicate with the KNAPP Spare Parts team
  • Maintain proper care and maintenance of tooling and equipment
  • Work flexibly and utilize skills effectively
  • Operate hand tools and assemble parts onto equipment
  • Follow set up instructions, assembly drawings, and checklists
  • Show hands-on ownership of issues to achieve quick time resolution
  • Perform risk assessments and appreciate health & safety considerations
  • Communicate effectively with on-site management
  • Operate network equipment interfaces (optional)

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation or related field
  • 0-3 years of direct experience in repairs on various types of machinery systems
  • 0-3 years of experience in equipment maintenance, modifications, and design
  • Theoretical and operational experience in the repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of PLC-based machinery
  • Talent and commitment to provide unique interpretations or analyses of KNAPP systems
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/German) preferred but not required
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and process-oriented mentality
  • Experience in reducing costs through processes and efficiencies

Qualifications

  • Ability to work against a timeline to complete reactive repairs
  • Interact with on-site management to keep them informed of repair and maintenance progress and address their concerns professionally
  • Show hands-on ownership of issues to achieve quick time resolution
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional follow-up skills
  • Computer literate with basic Microsoft Office skills
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing role requirements
  • Appreciation of cultural diversity
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
