Resident Engineer Water
About the role
Mott MacDonald is seeking a Resident Engineer to join their construction management team in the New York City area. The ideal candidate will have experience in the provision of construction management services for water/wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and pipeline construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct the activities of junior Resident Project Representatives and Construction Inspectors, testing services and subconsultants within the five boroughs.
- Support construction safety implementation through understanding of safety requirements.
- Aid in project controls activities such as schedule control, cost control, change management, risk management, and reporting tools.
- Maintain accurate daily records of the contractor's daily activities and the work performed, and of the labor, equipment and materials used.
- Review contractor progress payment requests.
- Enforce contract documents including plans and specifications.
- Assist during inspection of start-up and commissioning activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in construction engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related degree
- 10+ years of experience performing construction management, of which minimum 3 years in water/wastewater projects
- Registration: NYS PE (Required), CCM (Preferred), ENVSP (Preferred)
- 30 HR OSHA safety training
- 5+ years on DEP projects
- Proficiency in the use of computers to prepare reports using Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience working in/for municipal agencies or utility infrastructure organizations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to respond proactively in a high-paced environment and willingness to adjust and respond effectively to changes
Qualifications
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in construction engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related degree
- Minimum 10 years of experience in construction management, with at least 3 years in water/wastewater projects
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in New York State (Required)
- Construction Management Certification (CCM) or Environmental Site Professional (ENVSP) preferred
- Completed 30 hours of OSHA safety training
- 5+ years of experience on Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) projects
- Proficient in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office
- Experience working in municipal agencies or utility infrastructure organizations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to handle high-pressure situations and adapt to changes

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills. The expected salary range for this position is $152,000 - $186,000.
Schedule
The successful candidate will be expected to work a flexible schedule, with a minimum of three days per week in the office and the remaining days remotely.
