About the role

Parsons is looking for a Resident Engineer - Heavy Civil to join the team on the Hudson Tunnel Project in NY/NJ, one of the most exciting infrastructure projects in the country. The Gateway Program is the most urgent infrastructure program in the nation, and the Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP) includes construction of a new two-track tunnel under the Hudson River connecting to Penn Station New York as well as full rehabilitation of the existing 110-year-old North River Tunnel. The Gateway Development Commission (GDC) is responsible for financing and development of the project.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development, execution, supervision, and coordination of all technical aspects, office and field engineering assignments including review of plans, schedules, contracts, procedures, and construction methods
  • Represent the Construction Management team during Daily Construction Meetings with the Contractor
  • Support Senior CM Staff with technical input
  • Manage oversight review of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) design, fabrication, and operation during tunneling
  • Manage oversight review of detail design, fabrication, delivery, and installation of precast concrete tunnel lining segments
  • Coordinate with the project team to ensure timely completion of tunneling works according to project specifications
  • Monitor tunneling progress, ground conditions, and excavation parameters
  • Review geotechnical and structural monitoring data
  • Implement safety protocols and quality control measures to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulations
  • Prepare progress reports, documentation, and reports on TBM operations
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions to challenges encountered during tunneling operations
  • Coordinate with the Outreach Team and Third Party Stakeholders

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience working with Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs)
  • Tunneling experience, specifically in pressurized face TBM mining, precast concrete segmental lining, and cross passage construction
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams
  • Understanding of safety standards, regulations, and best practices in tunneling operations
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail

Pay

Salary Range: $134,100.00 - $241,400.00
