Resident Engineer
About the Role
WSP is seeking a Resident Engineer to oversee the $900 million Terminal E Garage and Roadways project at Logan Airport. This full-time position is based in Boston, Chelmsford, or Worcester, Massachusetts, but will be assigned full-time to the project location. The role involves managing various construction elements, including excavation, backfilling, compaction, concrete work, drilled shafts, drainage, underground utilities, and maintenance of traffic. The Resident Engineer will report to the Chief Resident Engineer and may act as their representative, requiring periodic nightshift and weekend rotations.
Responsibilities
- Review, interpret, and ensure compliance with construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Review technical submittals and shop drawings for general intent and compliance.
- Oversee work for conformance to plans and specifications.
- Anticipate and resolve design and construction issues.
- Daily interface with the construction manager, subcontractors, and project owner.
- Attend daily meetings with the project owner and construction manager.
- Complete daily reports, measure, calculate, and track unit price quantities.
- Monitor maintenance of traffic for compliance.
- Take and compile photographs for tracking daily progress.
- Coordinate on-call material technicians or surveyors.
- Assist with the review of Construction Manager and Subcontractor’s pay requisition process.
- Evaluate potential change orders for merit and content.
- Review red-line drawings using Bluebeam.
- Prepare and update punch lists.
- Be available to start early, stay late, or work Saturdays and odd-hour shifts to cover construction activities.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 7 years of applicable experience, including 4 years of supervising staff.
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Word Suite.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- ACI or NETTCP certifications, or ability to attain within 3 months of hiring.
- Hands-on experience with construction management software such as PMWeb, Site or Field Manager, APPIA, Procore, or similar systems.
- Knowledge of Bluebeam.
- Demonstrated supervisory skills.
Pay
Expected salary range: $118,000 - $175,230.
