About the role
Stantec’s Water practice is seeking a highly motivated Resident Engineer with large water and wastewater pump stations, treatment plants and/or force main project experience. This opportunity is for long-term conveyance programs in the Boston area.
Responsibilities
- Technical supervision for the construction phase of projects, including sewer separation, stormwater pump stations (up to 50 MGD), storage tanks (up to 4 MG) and water/wastewater treatment plants.
- Supervision of Stantec staff, including development of Management plans, tracking career progress, mentoring, advocating for and approving timesheets and training/development requests.
- Management of inspection staff and the delivery of daily inspector reports in accordance with clients' requirements.
- Serving as the primary point of contact on assigned construction contracts, with primary responsibility for construction contract administration and quality management.
- Managing site safety, permit status compliance and coordination with other agencies.
- Familiarity with construction procedures and scheduling of work sequences, including dewatering, backfilling and compaction of utility trenches, pavement/surface restoration, architectural and structural construction.
- Providing technical review of construction plans and specifications and project changes for constructability and practicality.
- Managing office staff responsible for record keeping, general correspondence, compiling and drafting of required reports and deliverables.
- Monitoring Contractor performance, quality, schedule, overall responsiveness, and effectiveness.
- Exerting influence over and maintaining excellent relationships with Contractors to maintain project goals.
- Managing the Contractor monthly payment process and recommending appropriate adjustments as necessary to manage the Contractor.
Requirements
This position is eligible for relocation. Position will work in both a field and office setting. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Must be available to travel for out-of-town projects when needed.
Credentials
- Be able to manage multi-discipline design teams, with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Outstanding record of successful Water Projects – Thorough knowledge of industry codes to ensure compliance of federal and state regulations, understanding of new technologies and cutting-edge methods.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- OSHA training/certification and Confined Space Entry certification beneficial (or will train, if needed for an assignment).
- Good driving record and a valid driver’s license.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience on projects showing increasing responsibility.
- Minimum of five (5) years in a construction management role of water and wastewater related projects.
- CCM is preferred.
Skills
- Knowledge of industry codes to ensure compliance of federal and state regulations.
- Understanding of new technologies and cutting-edge methods.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Min Salary: $107,300.00
Max Salary: $155,500.00
