Responsibilities
- Monitor contractor conformance to quality, performance, and specifications for assigned construction activities.
- Proactively interact with the contractor and communicate decisions to the Project Manager.
- Analyze and resolve issues related to construction activities.
- Perform complex engineering computations involving conventional engineering practices.
- Develop, document, and implement contract modifications.
- Maintain active involvement in technical societies.
- Prepare engineering papers and presentations.
- Absorb and coordinate project submittals, cost control, scheduling, reporting, and document control activities.
- Plan, schedule, conduct, and/or coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work.
- Communicate regularly with clients.
- Attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours, as required.
- Perform and monitor daily field inspections and maintain inspection records.
- Direct and supervise the work of other engineers, technicians, drafters, and administrative staff.
- Actively observe and act in an appropriate manner related to safety.
- Ensure that staff needing specialized training in health and safety procedures and practices receives such training and that safety is discussed as an important aspect of their work.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in civil engineering, preferably in transportation projects.
- Knowledge of Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) standards and regulations.
- Experience with project management software such as Primavera and Gantt charts.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
