Resident Engineer

About the role

Join our Water US, Construction Management Division as a Resident Engineer and work on construction projects of varying complexity. You will apply standard construction techniques, procedures, and criteria while exercising independent judgment to make design adaptations and modifications. This role involves collaborating with construction personnel to ensure compliance with contract documents and engineering requirements.

Responsibilities

• Analyze engineering concepts of projects using knowledge acquired from an engineering or construction management degree.
• Oversee construction personnel to ensure procedures, methods, and materials align with contract documents.
• Direct Construction Superintendents, Project Managers, Foremen, and others to comply with contract documents throughout the project duration.
• Ensure technical components of a project meet engineering requirements specified in contract documents.
• Perform engineering calculations for pump performance, concrete mechanics, pipeline hydraulics, and electrical adequacy.
• Prepare cash flow calculations from critical path schedules and schedules of values to help project owners budget and monitor progress.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology, or
• Associate’s degree or technical school certification in science, math, architecture, computing, technical drafting, or other relevant technical curriculum, plus 4+ years of qualifying engineering experience in the engineering/design field.
• Ability to make decisions affecting the cost and performance of the work.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (preferred).
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate (preferred).
• Licensed Professional Engineer (preferred).
• Municipal and State Agency experience (preferred).
• CCM, USACE CQM, CCCA, or NICET certifications (preferred).

About the team

You will be part of the Water US, Construction Management Division, focusing on municipal water construction projects in the Mid-Atlantic, New York City, and the Northeast. There are three levels of Resident Engineers based on experience and qualifications.

Pay

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $72,000 to $126,000 per year. Actual compensation will vary based on location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity. This position may also be eligible for bonus, overtime, or other forms of compensation.
