Resident Driver / Transportation Coordinator - Senior Living

Responsibilities

  • Cook daily transportation schedules to ensure timely and efficient resident appointments, outings, and community transportation needs.
  • Assist with scheduling and assigning driving routes based on resident needs, driver availability, and vehicle capacity.
  • Maintain defensive driving.
  • Provides communication link between residents and staff.
  • Aids passengers in and out of vehicles, operates ramps, lifts, and securement devices as needed.
  • Reads and interprets maps and driving directions to plan the most efficient route service for residents.
  • Presents safety briefing to passengers prior to each trip departure.
  • Keeps assigned vehicle(s) clean inside and outside.
  • Maintains accurate, up-to-date records on trip sheets, vehicle maintenance, fuel purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports, and other records that are requested from management.
  • Performs minor maintenance tasks on assigned vehicle(s) as required.
  • Coordinates the schedule for major or periodic vehicle maintenance with management and staff to minimize service interruptions.
  • Responds immediately to accident or medical emergencies by notifying emergency response providers, and rendering First Aid until emergency personnel arrive.
  • Serves as a positive role model while providing transportation service.
  • Participates in Community surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as necessary or as may be directed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 25 years of age.
  • A valid driver's license in this state, with a clean driving record.
  • Knowledge and experience caring for and interacting with residents of this nature.
  • Previous experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant a plus.
  • A professional appearance and reputation to represent Avamere and this facility.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Create and uphold an atmosphere of warmth, patience, enthusiasm, and a calm and cheerful environment.
  • Possess an active CPR/BLS Certification and always maintain certification during employment.
  • Experience coordinating driver schedules or transportation services.
  • Strong organizational and scheduling skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple transportation requests and adjust schedules as needs change.
  • Experience leading or mentoring a team of drivers is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
