Responsibilities

• Performs daily spiritual care visitation.
• Ensures appropriate response and follow-up on all referrals from the clinical nursing areas to which assigned.
• Provides spiritual care and support to patients, families, and teammates of all cultural and spiritual backgrounds without proselytizing.
• Supports faith group leaders visiting their members who are patients.
• Facilitates spiritual care groups in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Maintains spiritual care statistics of daily activities and completes charting for spiritual care interactions.
• Maintains a responsible relationship with their endorsing denomination and engages in activities necessary to maintain that endorsement.
• Takes initiative to maintain active and regular supervisory meetings with a CPE Supervisor and reports professional activities at these meetings.
• Works in groups and team meetings as part of team delivery of care on clinical nursing areas.
• Remains in compliance with the standards and guidelines set forth in the Clinical Pastoral Education Student Handbook.
• Attends regular peer group meetings and educational presentations as required by the CPE Faculty.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to be mobile (walking, standing, sitting, etc.).
• Talking and hearing essential to communicate with patients, families, and teammates.
• Must be able to read and speak English in simple, understandable terms.
• Must be free of any physical limitation that would preclude fulfillment of spiritual care duties.
• Ability to engage in a good working relationship with all departments.

Qualifications

• Master's of Divinity or equivalency based on the Common Qualifications and Competencies for Professional Chaplains preferred.
• One previous unit of Clinical Pastoral Education by an accredited ACPE center preferred.
• Open to candidates who are enrolled in or have completed a Master's in Counseling program.
