Position Summary
Completes a minimum training program that teaches a curriculum to become a Certified Nurse Aide in the state of Michigan. Will be trained on the essential functions as listed below.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Personal care: Assist residents with tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, using the toilet, eating, and drinking
- Vital signs: Track vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse, and monitor blood glucose
- Hygiene and safety: Understand hygiene practices to prevent infections
- Interpersonal skills: Be patient, understanding, and empathetic, and communicate effectively
- Resident rights: Respect patient privacy, secure belongings, and promote choice-making
- Mobility: Learn to use mobility aids and teach patients how to use them
- Record keeping: Record treatments and medical information for sharing with nurses and doctors
- Bed linens: Change bed linens to maintain comfort and cleanliness
- Transfers: Safely transfer patients between beds, chairs, and toilets
Qualifications
- Pass a criminal background check
- Pass a negative drug screen
- Have a negative tuberculosis test within a year
- Hold a valid Michigan driver’s license or State ID card
- Able to attend all scheduled classes
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Must be 18 years old; consideration given to a minor of 17 years old with parental consent
