Resident Care Associate

About the role

As a Resident Care Associate (RCA) at Eskaton, you provide personal care, companion care, nursing assistance, and other assigned tasks to residents living in our communities. Your duties include direct resident care, assisting in daily living activities, personal shopping, domestic tasks, and documentation of care provided. Assignments may be adjusted based on resident needs as evaluated by the Resident Care Director, Memory Care Director, or Wellness Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Provides or assists in bathing or showering to ensure thorough cleanliness and hygiene of residents while maintaining individual privacy.
• Assists residents in dressing as needed.
• Provides companion care, including reading, visiting, answering personal correspondence, and assisting with tasks as listed on the resident’s service plan. Financial and legal affairs are referred to the community Resident Care Director.
• Makes beds, straightens rooms, and keeps resident care areas organized.
• Prepares light meals at the direction of the resident when noted on the service plan.
• Assists residents in scheduling medical appointments or other vital services and may accompany them to appointments as directed.
• Promotes appropriate levels of independence and demonstrates awareness of safety for both residents and self.
• Assists residents with simple range-of-motion exercises, ambulation, and participation in fitness programs or planned events as directed.
• Applies medical or adaptive devices as ordered and collects specimens as directed.
• May deliver meal trays or assist residents to the dining room.
• Assists with personal laundry, including dry cleaning.
• Follows Eskaton’s emergency protocols and policies.
• Completes resident weight tracking as noted on the service plan.
• Provides respite services for spouses and/or other family members.
• Assists with the care of resident-owned pets.

• Complies with Eskaton’s Corporate Compliance Policy, HIPAA, and maintains professional attendance, dress code, and appearance standards.
• Works in accordance with safety guidelines, including proper body mechanics and use of safety gear.

Requirements

• High school graduate or G.E.D. preferred.
• Proficient ability to communicate orally and in writing in English.
• Six (6) months’ experience in providing personal care in an RCFE or other long-term care setting preferred.
• Valid/current first aid certification.
• Knowledge of performing personal care services in a residential environment.
• Ability to meet new or stressful situations with appropriate responses.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team, share information, and follow both verbal and written instructions.
• Comfortable working with pets of various sizes.

Working Conditions

• Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Requirements are subject to modification to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities.
• Must successfully pass Eskaton’s post-offer, pre-employment testing, including a criminal background check, drug test, TB screen, and health screen.
• All new hires are required to sign an arbitration agreement as a condition of employment.

Pay

Starting pay ranges from $20.65 per hour to $25.75 per hour. Factors such as scope, responsibilities, experience, education, job-related skills, internal equity, and market considerations may influence base pay.
