About the role
Responsible for providing comprehensive care to individuals in residential care settings, ensuring their safety, comfort, and adherence to their individual service plans.
Responsibilities
- Assist with personal hygiene, activities of daily living, and maintenance of living areas and belongings.
- Treatment and administration of medications according to the Five Rights.
- Supervise individuals to maintain safety and cleanliness.
- Document care provided and participate in developing individualized services.
- Follow service plans and report changes in health conditions.
- Maintain resident rights and confidentiality.
- Report suspected abuse or neglect and follow safety protocols.
- Perform various duties including temperature checks, medication administration, and transportation.
- Engage in recreational and social activities and complete training programs.
- Handle phone calls, greet visitors, and perform clerical tasks.
Requirements
- Experience as a Resident Care Assistant in a Residential Care Apartment Complex or Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF).
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) status, or completion of relevant courses if not a CNA.
- Background check and valid driver's license for those driving County vehicles.
- Age 18 or older.
Qualifications
- Experience with geriatric, mentally ill, or developmentally disabled individuals preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with residents and staff.
- Physical ability to perform duties such as lifting, pushing, and pulling, as well as using near vision and standing/walking.
Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of resident rights and confidentiality.
- Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Basic computer skills for completing in-service and training programs.
