Responsibilities

  • Resident Support: Provide a supportive and respectful presence for shelter residents; assist with basic needs such as access to meals, hygiene supplies, and bedding; monitor resident behavior and address conflicts or issues; encourage residents to participate in shelter programs and activities.
  • Shelter Security and Safety: Collaborate with Security to ensure the safety and security of the shelter facility and residents; enforce shelter rules and regulations; conduct regular rounds of the shelter; conduct safety checks and searches as needed.
  • Shelter Operations: Assist with intake and discharge procedures; maintain accurate records of resident occupancy and shelter activities; assist with maintaining a clean and organized shelter environment including sanitizing sleeping areas, moving furniture, sanitizing walls/floors/ledges, and swapping mattresses; report vacated units and prepare them for new residents (cleaning bathrooms, shampooing carpets, cleaning kitchen area, furniture setup); help residents pack items and move them to the 1st floor; perform nightly ES laundry, clean welcome center and staff bathrooms, restock storage room shelves, assist with building chores; assist with distribution of supplies and donations; accurately monitor and document medication intake and observations; complete shift reports.
  • Crisis Intervention: Respond to and de-escalate crisis situations; provide support to residents experiencing emotional distress or other crises; contact emergency services as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
  • Ability to enforce rules and maintain boundaries.
  • Empathy and compassion for individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
  • In the midst of a mature walk with Jesus Christ.

Pay

$17.00 to $18.00 per hour, with a $0.50 shift differential for 2nd shift and a $1.00 shift differential for 3rd shift.
