About the role

The Resident Assistant (RA) is a caregiver providing assistance to residents under the supervision of the LPN and/or RN. Resident Assistants provide compassionate care that is respectful of each resident's needs, values, and wishes in a 66-bed assisted living community designed for individuals with memory loss, Alzheimer’s disease, and other related dementias.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Trinity/SPHP Vision, Mission, and Values in all encounters with residents and families.
  • Adhere to the SPHP Code of Conduct and demonstrate accountability as an individual and team member.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility in a respectful, compassionate manner.
  • Assist residents in taking medications as needed and encourage independence and dignity.
  • Monitor resident safety and well-being, reporting any changes to the LPN.
  • Consult with the LPN/RN on any changes in residents' health statuses.
  • Build meaningful relationships with residents, understanding their personal histories, preferences, and routines.
  • Help with light housekeeping and meal service to maintain a safe and clean-living space.
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Promote a warm, friendly, and respectful environment.

Requirements

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in senior care, healthcare, or assisted living preferred but not required.
  • Ability to follow care plans and safety protocols.
  • Working knowledge of computers, including electronic health records, email, and required in-servicing.
  • Physical, visual, and auditory ability adequate to perform resident care.
  • Maintain composure and positivity in a high-stress environment.
  • Promote physical, cognitive, and psychosocial well-being of each resident.
  • Work with residents in a highly personal manner during stages of acute and chronic illness.

Pay

$16.70 - $20.36 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education.
