About the role
The Resident Assistant plays a key role in a client’s health recovery by providing specialized care and medical attention at our shelters.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrating excellent customer service consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission, and Values of the organization.
- Observing and reporting any changes in physical condition, mood, or behavior.
- Using de-escalation techniques to defuse verbal or physical altercations between guests and follow shelter safety protocols.
- Engaging residents with empathy and encourage participation in social activities to reduce isolation and promote mental well-being.
- Assisting with housekeeping duties, such as cooking and cleaning.
Requirements
- Six months to one year of security, customer service or nursing aid experience working with disenfranchised or medically fragile populations.
- Physically capable of communicating with, caring for and facilitating activities for guests of all ages and varying comprehension levels.
- Basic computer skills; able to navigate Google email, Microsoft applications and databases.
Compensation
Starting from $17.00 hourly up to $20.00, dependent on experience.

Expected Hours Of Work
Hours include some evenings, weekends and holidays. Hours and days may vary based on the needs of the organization. Must be available to work one or more of the following shifts, including weekends and holidays, as scheduled: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM, 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM.
