Resident Aides (RA)- The Glen

Responsibilities

• Assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) to meet each residents’ needs
• Dress and undress residents (clothing should be clean and appropriate for the season)
• Med-passes
• Personal hygiene (shaving, dental hygiene, nail care, hair care, foot care)
• Mobility devices (cane, walker, wheelchair, crutches) including monitoring of safe transfer and ambulation techniques
• Care of ADL devices such as eyeglasses, contact lenses, hearing aids
• Telephone assistance (assistance with calls, phone repairs, hearing, and vision adaptive devices)
• Housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, emptying trash, cleaning bathroom, bed making and bed changes
• Laundry
• Mail delivery, resident’s personal correspondence
• Aid in administering medications, including monitoring of medication supplies and documentation
• Observe and report changes in residents’ physical condition and cognitive and emotional status to the Director/LPN as needed
• Conduct room checks and resident rounds
• Monitor for environment safety hazards
• Record incidents, errors, or accidents
• Support resident-centered activity programs
• Light cleaning, as needed
• Communicate tactfully and diplomatically in potentially sensitive or emotionally charged situations
• Represent the community as an ambassador and public relations representative to guests and visitors

Qualifications

• Not currently certified, but support and access to certification courses are provided
• Ability to work flexible hours, including PM and NOC shifts
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Basic knowledge of health and wellness principles
• Passion for serving seniors and their families
