About the role
The Resident Aide plays a vital role in providing direct, compassionate care to our residents. This position assists with personal care, monitors resident well-being, and supports residents in maintaining their independence and dignity while working closely with the care team to ensure a safe, respectful, and engaging environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Follow the designated shower schedule and support residents during personal care routines.
- Help distribute meal trays during scheduled meal times.
- Regularly check and record vital signs, physical condition, and cognitive status.
- Ensure that residents' rights and responsibilities are observed.
- Respond promptly to resident call lights and requests for assistance.
- Act swiftly and appropriately in emergency situations such as medical emergencies or fire alarms.
- Complete daily charting and document care provided.
- Adhere to mandatory 4-hour reporting for all Medicaid Waiver residents.
- Report observations and care-related issues to the appropriate team members.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in common areas including hallways, lounges, and dining spaces.
- Ensure resident rooms are tidy by making beds, changing linens, and cleaning bathrooms regularly.
- Manage laundry duties, including collecting, washing, folding, and distributing clean linens and clothing.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues to foster a positive, supportive work environment.
- Participate in ongoing training and attend all mandatory staff meetings.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations, including proper infection control practices.
- Maintain resident privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Resident Care Coordinator.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience in assisted living or long-term care is preferred but not required.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow established care protocols.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must pass a background check.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands for manual tasks, reach, and communicate verbally.
- Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, or perform activities that involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Schedule
The hours for this position are 11pm-7am. Rotating weekends and holidays are required, with a base of 16 hours per week and the opportunity to pick up additional shifts.
