This is a full-time, 12-month, live-in professional staff position reporting to the Associate Director of Housing and Residence Life. The Residence Hall Director oversees community building and administrative management of a residence hall housing 225-350 students.
Responsibilities
- Receives and responds to crisis and student conduct situations according to established policies and procedures
- Plans, implements, and evaluates student programs and initiatives for residence life
- Serves as a main point of contact for resident support providing mediation and resolution of personal and facility issues
- May supervise the day-to-day activities of students and/or professional staff and assist with the personnel management allocation plan including hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation
- Works evenings and some weekends to meet department needs and maximize effectiveness in working with students
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 2-3 years of significant student leadership experience in residence halls on a college campus
- Demonstrated supervision skills and/or experience
- Experience working with diverse groups
- Demonstrated administrative skills including an ability to manage multiple priorities
- Demonstrated proficiency of communication skills, including verbal, written, and interpersonal
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in student personnel, education, counseling, or related areas
- Experience with the student conduct/judicial processes
- Strong decision-making skills and the ability to work autonomously
- Demonstrated experience working with crisis response
- Demonstrated ability to advise student groups
- Demonstrated experience in academic support
- Knowledge of assessment principles within higher education
- Previous residence hall or related experience
- Demonstrated experience in community development
Pay
Base salary is $43,888 for a 12-month appointment with the possibility of additional compensation based on qualifications and experience.
