Residence Counselors- Full Time

Open interviews for this position will be held on Thursday, August 6th from 10:00am–12:00pm at 201 Nott Terrace, Schenectady, NY.

About the role

Provide services to adults who have a diagnosis of mental illness and are living in a group home. Promote a culture of inclusion and belonging, and transport clients using agency vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Provide supportive counseling.
• Teach rehabilitation skills such as daily living skills, medication management, coping skills, crisis intervention, and prevention.
• Organize recreation activities for socialization and stress reduction.
• Maintain a healthy and clean environment for clients, ensuring chores are completed correctly and assisting with cleaning activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma required; college classes in human services preferred.
• Demonstrated ability in helping others.
• Valid and insurable driver’s license.
• Experience working with people who have a diagnosis of mental illness or other human service experience.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

Pay: $21.46/hour, $44,636.80 annual equivalent.

Schedule: 40 hours per week.

• Tuesday: 3:00pm–11:00pm
• Wednesday: 9:00am–5:00pm
• Thursday: 11:00am–7:00pm
• Friday & Saturday: Off

1574 Union Residence

Pay: $21.46/hour, $44,636.80 annual equivalent.

Schedule: 40 hours per week.

• Monday–Thursday: 3:00pm–11:00pm

Dominion House

Pay: $22.08/hour, $45,926.40 annual equivalent.

Schedule: 40 hours per week.
