About the role
The Advanced Computing Solutions Group in the NLR Computational Science Center seeks a Computational Science Researcher with expertise in mathematical optimization and its application to energy systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and experience with AI/RL techniques.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with domain experts to identify optimization applications.
- Implement and evaluate optimization algorithms and solutions.
- Develop new mathematical and computational frameworks as needed.
- Author publications and proposals to advance research directions.
Requirements
- Relevant PhD, Master's with 3+ years of experience, or Bachelor's with 5+ years of experience.
- Extensive experience with mathematical optimization and AI/RL techniques.
- Familiarity with parallel computing and machine learning frameworks.
- Strong technical writing and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated understanding of optimization principles and computational methods.
- Experience with Python, Julia, Pyomo, JuMP, and optimization solvers.
- Knowledge of distributed computing and scalable machine learning.
- Experience with transmission grid modeling and fault detection on microgrids.

$83,600 - $150,500 annually
