About the role

The Advanced Computing Solutions Group in the NLR Computational Science Center seeks a Computational Science Researcher with expertise in mathematical optimization and its application to energy systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and experience with AI/RL techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with domain experts to identify optimization applications.
  • Implement and evaluate optimization algorithms and solutions.
  • Develop new mathematical and computational frameworks as needed.
  • Author publications and proposals to advance research directions.

Requirements

  • Relevant PhD, Master's with 3+ years of experience, or Bachelor's with 5+ years of experience.
  • Extensive experience with mathematical optimization and AI/RL techniques.
  • Familiarity with parallel computing and machine learning frameworks.
  • Strong technical writing and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated understanding of optimization principles and computational methods.
  • Experience with Python, Julia, Pyomo, JuMP, and optimization solvers.
  • Knowledge of distributed computing and scalable machine learning.
  • Experience with transmission grid modeling and fault detection on microgrids.

Pay

$83,600 - $150,500 annually

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week
