Position Specifics
Research Technologist - Animal Sciences perform specialized tasks associated with developing, designing, and conducting research projects and experiments under the general direction of faculty and post-docs. Tasks involve working with animals confined in conventional, barrier, quarantine, and specialized biohazard housing; may require handling of acute, chronic, and infectious diseases, quarantine procedures, and radioisotopes. Learning and managing lab orders and purchases, including supplies, reagents, animals, and documentation.
- Learning and handling mouse husbandry, including breeding, PCR genotyping, and documentation.
- Learning and performing drug treatments, including tail vein injection, oral and nasal drug administration.
- Learning and conducting mouse brain tissue sectioning (frozen and paraffin).
- Learning and acquiring images using fluorescence microscopy.
- Learning and conducting neurological behavioral tests in mice following stroke and brain trauma.

Minimum Education, Work Experience & Required Certifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- No prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education.

Salary & Benefits
The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $36,888.00 - $53,532.00. Salary Structure - Information on Penn State's salary structure
